Starts, Sit, and Streamers – NFL Week 10

We’re now nine weeks into the NFL season and with each passing Sunday, winning your fantasy matchups feels that much more important. This season has thrown up plenty of surprises, both good an bad, but there are several players that we should have conviction about this weekend.

If you’re affected by byes or injuries this week, or simply stream certain positions throughout the year, my weekly “Streamers” article for PFSN is available here. That article includes QB, TE, Kicker, and Defense options that are widely available on waivers, and should put up solid fantasy numbers this week.

For players already rostered, though, here are my starts and sits for Week 10, including quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers.

START: Jaxson Dart, QB, New York Giants

Jaxson Dart has been phenomenal since being handed the starting job in Week 4, and his performances have translated beautifully to fantasy. The rookie is the QB5 in FPPG (fantasy points per game) since becoming the starter, averaging 22.8 points per week.

This weekend, he faces a Chicago Bears defense that has conceded 72 points over their last two games. In fact, the Bears have allowed the fourth-most points per game in the NFL this year (28.38). In a potential shootout, Dart should be a top-10, if not a top-five fantasy quarterback this week.

START: Caleb Williams, QB, Chicago Bears

On the other side of that shootout, Caleb Williams should also be in for a productive day. Williams has averaged 20.2 FPPG this year, 10th-most on the year, and faces a great matchup against the New York Giants.

New York has given up 21.5 FPPG to the quarterback position this year, seventh-most in the league. In real life, they have been hit for 33+ points in each of their last three, and the Bears offense is coming off its highest-scoring game since September 2018.

SIT: J.J. McCarthy, QB, Minnesota Vikings

While Dart and Williams are battling it out in Chicago, the Minnesota Vikings welcome a revitalized Baltimore Ravens to U.S. Bank Stadium. The jury is still out of J.J. McCarthy, who looked much improved against the Detroit Lions in Week 9.

However, the Ravens defense has been just as, if not more improved in recent weeks. After giving up 37+ point sin four of their opening five games, the Ravens have allowed 17 or fewer in each of their last three.

Baltimore forced three turnovers in its win over the Miami Dolphins last weekend, and look more like the elite defensive unit many expected before the season.

START: Kyle Monangai, RB, Chicago Bears

If it feels like I’m picking on the Giants defense this week, it’s because that’s absolutely what I’m doing. I’ve mentioned New York’s defensive frailties already, but its biggest issues are on the ground.

The Giants have allowed 5.5 yards per carry this season, the most in the NFL. Meanwhile Kyle Monangai is coming off a monster week against a similarly miserable Cincinnati Bengals defense.

Monangai tallied 176 yards on 26 carries on Sunday, and could do similar damage to the Giants if D’Andre Swift remains sidelined. If Swift returns, the rookie is still a flex option, but I’m not ready to declare him Chicago’s new starter just yet.

START: Devin Singletary, RB, New York Giants

If it feels like I’m picking on the Bears defense… you get it.

Just in case Swift does return this weekend, I wanted to add another start option at running back.

Devin Singletary doesn’t carry anywhere near the same upside that Monangai does this weekend, but is a flex option for those in need. With Cam Skattebo out for the year, many rushed to the waiver wire to pick up Tyrone Tracy Jr., but it was Singletary who led the Giants in rushing in Sunday.

The veteran is the more powerful back, and the more likely to handle goal-line work. Chicago has allowed 5.1 yards per carry this year, fewer than New York, but still the fourth-most in the NFL.

SIT: Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints

If you currently have Alvin Kamara on your fantasy roster, commiserations. The former fantasy football hero has been incredibly disappointing this season, and he isn’t even getting the targets to counter his poor rushing efficiency.

The New Orleans Saints at least appear to be making some moves to address their shambolic financial accounts, so there is hope for the future. Unfortunately, that will all come too late for Kamara, who finds himself in an impossible situation.

The Panthers are a below-par run defense, but the Saints have lost by at least two scores in each of their last three games, and three scores in their last two. Kamara isn’t a between-the-tackles runner, and should have gotten significantly more targets given the team’s miserable game scripts.

That hasn’t happened, though, and unless something changes, Kamara is best left on your bench, or better still, on someone else’s.

START: Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

The Packers have played up and down to their opposition this year, losing to arguably the worst two teams they’ve faced. Week 9’s loss to the Panthers will have many people worried, but that shouldn’t impact your fantasy decisions this week.

Josh Jacobs’ lingering calf problem has hindered the Packers’ offense of late, but Romeo Doubs has been a high-volume target earner, regardless of results. Now, with Tucker Kraft sidelined, and Christian Watson still ramping up, Doubs could have double-digit targets for the second week in a row.

Doubs has had eight or more targets in four of his last five games, and is an easy start at flex this week.

SIT: Jakobi Meyers, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jakobi Meyers finally got the trade he’s been asking for all year, and should start his first game for he Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend. Brian Thomas is questionable with a high ankle sprain, while Travis Hunter is sidelined long-term.

Meyers has been a solid fantasy option for a while now, and the Jaguars’ injuries make him a tempting option this weekend, but there is also plenty working against him.

Parker Washington will likely lead the team in targets with Thomas sidelined, or even limited in any way. Meanwhile, the Jaguars face the Houston Texans, who have allowed a league-low 56.7% completion rate this season and the fourth-fewest passing yards per game (177.5).

Davis Mills is unlikely to run up the score in C.J. Stroud’s absence, and Meyers will have had only a few days to familiarize himself with Liam Coen’s offense. The former Raiders should prove a good acquisition for Jacksonville, but expectations should be tempered this weekend.

That’s it for this week’s Starts, Sits, and Streamers. Remember to check out my “Streamers” article for PFSN, available here, for any short-term waiver adds you might need this week.
